Welcome to the crazy world of ER nursing. The stories that come out of the ER can make you laugh, make you cry, and make you pissed. Sometimes all at the same time. ER RN's are a special breed and I do believe we all lean a little bit toward the insane side of reality. Come in, kick up your feet, and prepare to be astounded by what your fellow humans do.

How To Tell If I've Had A Busy Day
There is a direct relationship between the number of pens in my hair and how busy I was during my shift.
I tend to "pocket" pens in my hair and forget they are there. It's a handy place to store them. You just take the chance of looking like peacock by the end of your shift if it's a busy one.
Oh - and I see I need another trip to my stylist for a fresh color.

OMG - how true!!!! (As long as you don't find a tampon behind your ear one day! LOL!
The other day I went to pull the pen from behind my ear, and discovered it was a rectal thermometer.
"Just great," I muttered, "some asshole has my pen." ;)
That photo is awesome! Must have been a hell of a busy day!
Take one of those pens out of your hair and start writing because you've been tagged! It's the law, you have to do it....and the law is the law. Write seven things about yourself and then tag seven other people.
I used to sit behind a girl in chemistry lab who had so much thick hair that we could hide things in it and she wouldn't know for hours (or days, depending on when she showered next). The general public would probably be frightened to know what we put in there. I don't imagine an ER nurse would...
That is hilarious.. I just clip mine to my superman badge holder. End up with either all the pens in the ER or none at all , by the end of the night.
